This workshop aims to develop you and your child’s musicianship skills through singing, singing games and rhymes, instrumental playing and improvisation. The workshop will incorporate material that is child-based and combines the philosophies of Kodaly, Dalcroze and Orff (three of the 20th Centuries leading theorists in music education).

Clare is a graduate of the Kodaly Institute, Hungary and has a special interest in musicianship training through kinaesthetic movement and games. Clare has worked as an Early Years facilitator in DIT Conservatory and Music Generation Louth, and is currently an Early Years Practitioner at St. Ultan’s Primary school, where she teaches musicianship to all ages.
Specific skills children will develop in this session include:

  • A sense of rhythm and pulse
  • A sense of singing and intonation through tonic solfa
  • Co-ordination and tactile skills
  • Improved Literacy Skills
  • Improvisation Skills
  • Ensemble playing
  • Structure
  • Inner hearing

But mostly, you and your child will get to explore the elements of music making in a fun and dynamic way that is engaging and creative!
